I choose transportation as my theme. Thinking about the Future and all the new things it has in store for us I thought outside the box. A car running off Ginger Ale or soft drinks. A car that can FLY and go above the average speed. One who has siri, can brush your teeth, can give you drinks and snacks, unlimited variety of music(built in Apple Music, Pandora), etc. Not only is it cars but motorcycles too !!!
1. What do you think it will be like in our future?
I developed art making skills. I learned how to use polymer clay and it's much easier to me than regular clay. Although I gained skills with regular clay, I got better with shapes and I had no cracks this time after it was fired. I discovered I may be talented with any type of clay ! I solved problems. I set goals and I achieved them but I did go through some challenges with learning how to smooth out the polymer where it had lines/creases and sometimes I wondered why my art work didn't really look like some of the ones that gave me inspiration but I had to remind myself that it takes time and practice and that everyone's artwork is unique to them. I took risks. Most of the materials I used were new, trying new things is something everyone should do! My theme was Christmas Clay and it turned out well ! Trying new materials went well and I look forward to doing more. Update on Earth Art; December 9,2016
A month later when I went to go check on my Earth Art it had DISAPPEARED. I was really looking forward to see what had changed about it. I think alot of pine straw covered it up or a little kid came and picked it, or maybe someone threw it in the trash because it was in there way ! Hopefully it pops up somewhere and I see what changed about it. Fun Theory- Creating fun ways to do things people are to lazy to do or would rather take the easy way.
Example: Mundane: Washing Clothes Fun Theory: Making a sport-minded washer and dryer so you can throw the clothes in and make you have a little bit more motivation to do it ! This Ted talk was very interesting to me, its one of the ones I actually listened to without drifting off into space. He gives so much hope and inspiration. He overcame the fact that he had permanent nerve damage but he didn't let that stop him. One thing leads to another, when something fails make it possible again. He thought and created so many more cool art pieces. His art work is UNIQUE ! and its done unintentionally and its absolutly cool.
Express- I communicated through my work. My art work is intended to say how much I love chocolate ! So I began to think chocolate? Hey why not Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. It just shows how much I enjoy chocolate and anything that has to relate to it. I observed. Observing my surroundings made me look and see what limited materials I have and could use due to moving to another location for school. My subject matter was the theme Willy Wonka and its characters, I knew I couldn't make every character with the amount of time I had so I made something to represent each character. It was important for me to observe because my pumpkin was slightly small and no pumpkin is perfectly Round. I took risks. I tried new things like making little pieces/sculptures out of aluminum foil I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but it started working well. I did have some challenges, the hot glue gun would sometimes dry to fast and leave glue all over the pumpkin. Below is my representation of each character.
Chocolate Bar/Wrapper- Augustus Gloop Golden Ticket- Charlie Bucket Blueberry/Blue Girl- Violet Beauregarde Lollipop- Veruca Salt Boy in Tv- Mike Teavee Green headed Guy- Oompa Loompa Develop Skills- I developed art making skills. I learned techniques on soft/chalk pastel. I watched YouTube videos, practiced with chalk pastels, and practiced making portraits with them. Doing this project I improved on using chalk pastel by learning how to make shadows & not have such dark outlines on realistic art. I discovered I am talented in using chalk pastel by the art work I have created with it & the improvement I have made. Engaged & Persisted- I solved Problems. I got frustrated when I came across challenges like plagiarism (My portrait was based on another portrait by Sevelle Visuals {@illustration315} & uneven lines. My final piece was totally different from my sketch & I kind of ran out of room on my paper when sketching the final product but I just let it be & finish the project out even though it looked different than what I envisioned. My ideas happened by chance/accidentally, I often found myself having to do something different than what I planned. Explored- I took risks. I've never done a project with chalk pastels so I was interested in how it would turn out. When trying new things out I came across challenges having the pastel on my hands & it smearing on my paper but sometimes I liked how it came out usually you would draw with pencil and colored pencils but I stepped out my boundaries and tried new media and art. |
